Blog: The Intentional Life
A Saturday morning reflection on living more intentionally in a distracted world.
About The Intentional Life
We live in a world that moves quickly. Notifications buzz. Calendars fill. Conversations are often interrupted by glowing screens and the next thing demanding our attention.
Yet the moments that shape our lives most deeply are rarely rushed. They happen in ordinary places—around dinner tables, during the commute to work, in the pause between busy days when we finally have space to reflect.
The Intentional Life is a collection of short reflections about presence, purpose, discipline, or the journey that I have learned as “The Second Mountain”, a concept I was first introduced to by Brian Johnson, creator of Philosopher’s Notes, the author of Areté, and the founder of Heroic.
In his Philosopher’s Note on David Brooks’, The Second Mountain: The Quest for a Moral Life, Brian writes, “David tells us there are two mountains: The first mountain? That’s what society tells us we should pursue: all the normal trappings of success. The second mountain? That’s where the magic (and joy!) exists: where we move beyond ourselves and COMMIT (important word for this book!) to giving ourselves most fully to something bigger than ourselves.”
And that is exactly where I am—and committed to being. I invite you to join me in exploring what it means to live with greater intention, to pay closer attention to the moments that shape our lives, and to pursue the kind of life that is measured not only by success, but by meaning.
Each Saturday morning, I share a story, a reflection, and a question designed to help us slow down long enough to notice what truly matters.
